A death initially believed to be the result of a heart attack in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district has taken a sinister turn, with police now arresting the victim’s wife and her alleged lover for murder over a month after the incident.
The victim, Paramesh, was found dead on January 30. At the time, his wife Asha told family members that he had died of a heart attack, and the funeral was conducted quickly without raising immediate suspicion.
However, doubts began to surface when Asha married her friend Chandrappa just 20 days after her husband’s death. The sudden remarriage alarmed Paramesh’s sisters, who approached the Hebbur police and filed a complaint alleging foul play.
Following the complaint, police ordered the exhumation of Paramesh’s body in the presence of the Tahsildar and revenue officials. A post-mortem examination was then carried out and samples were collected for further forensic analysis.
During questioning, investigators grilled Asha and Chandrappa about the circumstances surrounding Paramesh’s death. According to police, the duo eventually confessed to killing him.
Investigators said the accused allegedly suffocated Paramesh with a pillow and later attempted to pass off the death as a heart attack.
Both Asha and Chandrappa have been arrested by Hebbur police, and further investigation into the case is underway.
