In his first message to the nation since becoming the Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of slain leader Ali Khamenei, said the nation will not forget the revenge “for the blood of martyrs".
“We will not forget the revenge for the blood of the martyrs", he said.
While he stressed friendship with neighbouring countries, he highlighted the attack on US bases will continue. “We believe in friendship with our neighbours, but we will target the American bases and will inevitably continue".
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the longest-serving Head of State in the Middle East, was killed on the opening day of the strikes, which hit the presidential complex in Tehran.
It was the 10th day of Ramadan, and Khamenei was with his family, including Mojtaba’s wife and son, when the coordinated U.S.-Israeli strikes killed them.
Mojtaba was also injured in the strikes that killed his father, the Iranian ambassador to Cyprus told The Guardian on Wednesday. “He was also there, and he was injured in that bombardment, but I haven’t seen that reflected in the foreign news," Ambassador Alireza Salarian stated.
Trump Warns Mojtaba Khamenei
US President Donald Trump, who earlier signaled interest in appointing a new Supreme Leader of Iran, warned Mojtaba Khamenei would not be able to “live in peace".
Trump has expressed strong discontent over the appointment of Ali Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba, as the Supreme Leader of Iran.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated he is “not happy" with Iran’s choice of leader. “I don’t believe he can live in peace," Trump said.
