'Will Destroy Palaces': Iran MP Says Complicit Gulf Rulers Will Be Killed If Leaders Attacked

Iranian MP Mahmoud Nabavian on Friday issued a stark warning, saying any attack on Iran’s leadership would trigger direct retaliation against rulers in the Persian Gulf.

Nabavian, who is also part of Iran’s negotiation delegation, said that if Iranian leaders were assassinated, those he described as “complicit" regional rulers would be targeted and their palaces destroyed.

His remarks were shared on social media platform X by Seyed Mohammad Marandi, a professor at the University of Tehran who was part of Iran’s delegation during the first round of ceasefire talks with the US in Islamabad last month.

In the video, Nabavian warned that no Arab ruler would remain “unscathed" if such an attack were carried out and warned governments in the region to take the threat seriously.

“The rulers of the countries in the region must take this threat seriously and prevent the activities of military bases that have been established in their countries," the Iranian lawmaker said.

The comments come at a time of heightened tensions, with efforts to revive talks between United States and Iran still uncertain. The two sides remain in a fragile ceasefire, but negotiations have stalled after an initial round of direct engagement failed to produce a breakthrough.
