Donald Trump acknowledged he can pardon Ghislaine Maxwell but hasn't considered it.

Donald Trump has been photographed with both Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at social events in the 1990s and early 2000s.
US President Donald Trump acknowledged he has the authority to pardon Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite convicted for her role in Jeffrey Epstein’s underage sex trafficking ring, but said he has not considered doing so.
“I’m allowed to do it but it’s something I haven’t thought about," Donald Trump said when asked whether he might issue a pardon or commute Ghislaine Maxwell’s sentence. The comment came as Ghislaine Maxwell held a second day of closed-door meetings with US Justice Department officials, though the purpose of those talks remains unclear.
Who Is Ghislaine Maxwell?
Ghislaine Maxwell, 63, is the only person currently serving a sentence in connection to Jeffrey Epstein’s vast and notorious sex trafficking operation, which involved the abuse of dozens of underage girls, some as young as 14. She was convicted in 2021 on multiple federal counts, including sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy charges and is serving a 20-year sentence in a Florida federal facility.
A longtime associate and confidante of Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell was accused of procuring and grooming young girls for him and his network of powerful associates between 1994 and 2004.
Trump’s Earlier Remarks On Ghislaine Maxwell
Donald Trump’s comments revived scrutiny over his past remarks regarding Ghislaine Maxwell. In 2020, he said he wished her “well" shortly after her arrest- a statement that drew backlash given the severity of the charges she faced. Ghislaine Maxwell’s name has also surfaced in connection to a wider investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s ties with high-profile figures. While Donald Trump has denied wrongdoing, he has been photographed with both Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at social events in the 1990s and early 2000s.
