Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that if the women’s reservation Bill is passed in the Lok Sabha, the Opposition can take the credit for it, adding that if the legislation is not cleared even after nearly three decades of delay, the opportunity will be lost for all parties and the public.
Speaking during the discussion, he acknowledged that while the move could have political benefits, the larger focus should remain on ensuring its passage.
“It is obvious that I will benefit it from it politically," he remarked, while stressing that continued delays would only deprive everyone of its advantages.
Addressing members of the House, he said, “If it is about the credit, you can take it." He further added, “Anyone here can publish their photo, I will give you a blank cheque to take credit."
