Renewed diplomatic movement is building around possible second round of US-Iran peace talks, with senior American envoys and Iran’s foreign minister preparing travel linked to Pakistan-hosted discussions.

Witkoff And Kushner head to Pakistan

US President Donald Trump is sending his Middle East special envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner to Pakistan for a second round of talks involving Iran, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed of Friday.

The move comes as Washington looks to keep diplomatic channels open with Tehran through Pakistan’s mediation effort. The talks are expected to build on earlier engagement, although key disagreements remain unresolved.

According to CNN citing two US administration officials, US Vice President JD Vance is not expected to attend at this stage. Officials said this is partly due to the absence of Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf from the current round of discussions.

However, Vance will remain on standby and could travel to Islamabad if the talks show progress, the report said.
