COIMBATORE: In three separate incidents on Thursday, the Coimbatore city police arrested four people, including a woman and her son, for illegal possession of ganja and painkiller tablets.Acting on specific information, the Bazaar police conducted a search at Lorry Pettai near Ukkadam. They found a youth standing near a moped. Police searched the youth, identified as H Mohammed Ashik, 26, of Kuniyamuthur, and found ganja and painkiller tablets in his possession. Police said he had procured ganja and painkillers to sell them to the youth, including college students, in the city. Police seized two kg of ganja, 260 pills, two syringes and the moped from him.On Thursday morning, the RS Puram police searched a youth, identified as N Dinesh, 24, of Seeranaicken Palayam. They found 2.3 kg of ganja in his possession. Police said Dinesh had confessed to peddling ganja in the city.In the third incident, the Kavundampalayam police seized 476 grams of ganja from P Rangammal, 47, and her son, Arun Kumar, 29. They are residents of Kavundampalayam. Police also seized a scooter and a mobile phone from them, which they allegedly had used for ganja peddling.All the four were remanded in judicial custody.
