A woman passenger was caught at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport with 40.2 kg of hydroponic marijuana concealed in her two check-in suitcases, after the Hyderabad unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau received a tip-off. The seized consignment is estimated to be worth around ₹14 crore in the illegal market.
Preliminary probe revealed that she had sourced the high-grade cannabis from Bangkok and routed her journey through Dubai to avoid raising suspicion. The passenger boarded a flight from Dubai and landed in Hyderabad around 3.30 a.m. on Wednesday, where NCB officials intercepted her.
A preliminary investigation reveals that she was waiting for associates in Hyderabad, who were expected to collect the consignment and transport it to Mumbai. Investigation is underway.
