Woman who delivered a baby girl on the train was taken to hospital by the railway staff
Nashik: A pregnant woman travelling on a Mumbai-bound train, who delivered a baby girl on board, was moved to a hospital by the multi-agency operation at the Nashik Road railway station on Monday.The incident occurred at 5.30am on June 15 when sub-inspector Dilip Kumar was supervising the departure of the Rajgir- LTT Janata Express from platform four. “Passengers Radheshyam and his wife, Heena, alerted us about a woman who had given birth inside the toilet of the rear general coach, and was stranded alone without assistance,” said the officer.The Railway Protection Force, under its initiative ‘Operation Matrushakti’, immediately mobilized resources, notifying deputy station superintendent Ashwani Harry and the emergency medical room staff Raju Yadav.
The authorities requested Heena to remain with the woman inside the coach while an ambulance was arranged for.“The 25-year-old mother is a resident of Akola. She was headed towards Mumbai when she went into labour minutes before the train pulled into Nashik Road station. She did not have any channel for communication with her,” said the RPF officer.The railway administration contacted the woman’s husband, who informed them that he would travel to Nashik by road. To ensure immediate medical care, a combined team comprising RPF personnel Sandeep Khatna, Sujit Yadav, and Shankar Yadav, along with Maharashtra Security Force staff Rahul Patil and the co-passengers, carefully shifted the mother and newborn into an ambulance.They were taken to Bitco Hospital in Nashik Road for clinical examination, with constable Shankar Yadav accompanying them for security.
