A 22-year-old woman died in a road accident in Haryana’s Ambala after an e-rickshaw she was travelling in was allegedly hit by a police employee reportedly driving under the influence near Kali Paltan Bridge.

The victim, identified as Nikita, was travelling in the e-rickshaw when the vehicle was struck from behind at high speed, according to the driver.

She fell onto the road during the impact and suffered severe injuries. She was taken to hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

Eyewitnesses Allege Police Employee Appeared Intoxicated

Witnesses alleged the police staff member appeared intoxicated at the time of the crash. Angry residents gathered at the spot, detained the driver, and handed him over to the police.

Tensions Grip Ambala

Tension later spread to Ambala Civil Hospital, where the victim’s family staged a protest demanding strict action against the accused and punishment for rash and drunk driving.

Police have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident, and a further probe into the matter is underway.
