Woman dies, seven injured in accident near Kancheepuram’s Tirupputkuzhi flyover

Chennai: A 23-year-old woman was killed and seven others were injured after a speeding truck rammed into the car they were travelling in near the Tirupputkuzhi flyover in Kancheepuram on Sunday.The deceased was identified as H Ananthi, wife of Harish, 28, of Vadapalani in Chennai. According to police, the couple, along with their friends Kishore, Jaideep, Gopi, Naveen, Santhosh and Percival, had set out on a trip to Yelagiri when the accident occurred.As their car was descending the Tirupputkuzhi flyover, a truck crashed into it from behind at high speed, leaving all eight occupants with serious injuries. Passersby alerted the police, following which personnel from the Baluchetty Chatram police station rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital in ambulances.Doctors declared Ananthi dead on arrival, while the remaining seven are undergoing treatment. The Baluchetty Chatram police have registered a case and launched a search for the truck driver, who fled the scene after the accident.
