Woman fights off chain snatchers, saves jewellery in Patna

Patna: In a rare display of courage, a 35-year-old house wife caught two chain snatchers while resisting their bid to snatch her jewellery, leading to their arrest in Danapur area of Patna on Wednesday evening.The incident occurred when the woman was returning home from Saguña Mor market after shopping. Two bike-borne criminals attempted to snatch her gold chain near a private hospital. However, the woman showed courage and grabbed the pillion rider’s waist, causing both to fall off the bike.According to police, upon hearing the woman's cries for help, nearby people rushed to the spot and caught both the chain snatchers, and later brought them to the police station.The victim, requesting anonymity, said, “I was walking back home from a market near Saguna Mor when two bike-borne miscreants attempted to snatch the gold chain from my neck. I grabbed the waist of the pillion rider, causing both miscreants to lose balance and fall off the motorcycle. I screamed for help, and nearby pedestrians rushed to the spot, managing to apprehend both the attackers.”Danapur SHO, Prashant Kumar Bharadwaj, said, “The police are interrogating the arrested accused and investigating their criminal history. The residence of the accused has not been identified yet. Their links to other chain-snatcher gangs are also being verified. They will be sent to judicial custody after production in Danapur court. Further investigation is going on.”
