Woman found murdered on busy Kolhapur market road; police suspect husband

Kolhapur: A woman was found lying in a pool of blood on a busy market street in Peth Vadgaon town of Kolhapur district on Wednesday evening. The police suspect she was murdered by her husband, whose whereabouts are currently not known.The incident came to light around 4.30pm when passersby noticed the woman in her 30s, lying injured on the roadside amid heavy rainfall. The police rushed to the spot and identified the victim as Amruta Kamble.The police said the woman had sustained multiple injuries inflicted with a sharp weapon, primarily on her face and neck. “The doctors declared her brought dead. There were multiple injury marks on her body, mainly around the face and neck, caused by an attack with a sharp weapon.

We have sent a team to search for her husband, who, according to the witnesses, fled the scene. We have carried out the forensics of the crime scene.

Evidence has been gathered,” said inspector Gorakh Chaudhary.According to preliminary investigations, the attack took place on the road, just a few metres from the couple's residence, while it was raining heavily.The police said the motive is yet to be established. Initial inquiries indicate that the husband worked odd jobs and had married the victim around eight years ago.
