Woman killed, two injured in road accident accident

A 52-year-old woman was killed and two others, including a minor boy, injured after a cement-laden lorry rammed their scooter on the Nice Road entry in Nayandahalli on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Renuka G.N., a resident of Basaveshwaranagar. The injured are Kusuma, 32, who was driving the scooter and her son Mokshit, 9.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 1:03 p.m. while the trio was on their way to a temple. The accused driver, Govardhan, 32, was allegedly speeding and driving recklessly on Nayandahalli Ring Road towards Nice Road and rammed their scooter.

Due to the impact, Renuka who was riding pillion was thrown up in the air and fell down and was run over by the lorry. She was declared brought dead at a private hospital.

Kusuma suffered fractures to her right arm and leg and Mokshit sustained facial injuries. The police have booked the lorry driver under Sections 281 (rash driving), 125(A) (endangering human life), and 106(1), of BNS and are further investigating.
