An unidentified woman’s body was recovered from a septic tank in Kamal Nagar area of Bhopal on Thursday, sending shockwaves across the locality.
According to police, the body was found hidden inside an iron trunk that had been dumped in a septic tank located on a vacant plot. The area is largely deserted, leading investigators to suspect that the spot was deliberately chosen to conceal the crime.
Preliminary assessment suggests the body is around three to four days old. Police officials said the woman’s identity has not yet been established. However, distinctive tattoos on her hands are being used as key markers in efforts to identify her.
Investigators suspect the woman was murdered, and her body was stuffed into the trunk before being disposed of in the septic tank. Forensic teams examined the scene after locals alerted authorities about a foul smell emanating from the plot.
The body has been sent for postmortem examination, and police said further details will emerge once the autopsy report is received. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to trace the victim’s identity and those responsible for the suspected crime.
