Times News NetworkKanpur: The woman, who died by jumping in front of a train in Govind Nagar, Kanpur, on June 4 (Saturday) night, has been identified on Monday. Police investigation revealed that, distressed by her husband’s addiction, the wife committed suicide by jumping in front of a train.Family members, who had been searching for the woman for two days, reached the post-mortem house, where she was identified. The family said that the husband had fallen ill two years ago due to alcohol, after which he started drinking again. The woman’s postmortem was conducted on Monday afternoon.Originally from Rajendra Nagar, Orai, Ankit Srivastava (42) works as an accountant in a factory. He was married seven years ago to Sonam (33), and they have two daughters. Sonam’s maternal uncle Chandra Niwas said that Ankit is addicted to liquor, due to which disputes used to occur at home almost every day.Two years ago, Ankit’s health had deteriorated due to drinking alcohol. Sonam’s family spent Rs 2.5 lakh on his treatment, but even after that there was no improvement in his habit. On June 4 (Saturday) night, Ankit came home drunk and thrashed Sonam, after which she left the house and committed suicide after being run over by a train near Govind Nagar station.Ankit searched for her and, when he could not find any trace of her, informed Sonam’s family, who then filed a missing person report. On Monday, family members who reached the postmortem house identified her.Govind Nagar police station in-charge Ashok Kumar Dubey said that a report will be registered and action will be taken on the basis of the complaint submitted by the family.
