Bidar: “Our govt has launched numerous programmes for women’s empowerment. The women of the state have supported us, and we remain committed to strengthening their role in society,” said chief minister DK Shivakumar at the ‘Akkapade’ women’s show of strength and self-defence programme held on Monday at Basava Mahamane in Basavakalyana, Bidar district.“From here, I will travel to Kalaburagi to hold discussions with officials and elected representatives of the Kalyana Karnataka region. Wherever we go, we first seek information about the village deity. We regard our land as Matrubhumi (Motherland) and Bhumitayi (Mother Earth),” he said.“The Akkapade force has been launched to ensure the safety of women. Our govt established this initiative under the leadership of Lakshmi Hebbalkar.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all those who have joined the force. Your strength, courage and achievements will undoubtedly yield positive results,” Shivakumar said.He further stated that the govt would soon take a historic decision. “We have already implemented the Shakti, Gruha Jyothi and Gruha Lakshmi schemes for women. The govt has also issued an order to establish 10,000 Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas across the state. These organisations will enable women and youth in every panchayat to showcase their culture, traditions and artistic talents while remaining united and upholding secular values,” he said.“Leadership should emerge from the panchayat level and grow all the way to Parliament. You must become leaders not only in politics but also in your respective fields. DK Shivakumar and this govt will always stand with you,” he added.
