NEW DELHI: Double Paralympic Games gold medallist javelin thrower Sumit Antil led the charge by clearing 69.25m to finish on top of the combined classification event on Day 2 of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix New Delhi 2026 here at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Wednesday.The highlight of the day came in the men’s javelin throw F43/F44/F64 final. Pushpendra Singh came a distant second, with a throw of 56.91m, while Poonam Ram finished third with 49.48m.Antil said his performance was beyond his own expectations and his focus remained on gradual improvement. “I am not changing my technique because we know we are moving in the right direction in our training. I am targeting the Asian Games, and the goal is 75m,” Antil said.
On the track, Gurjokumar Sabapathi won the men’s 400m T53/T54 final in 54.33 seconds, ahead of Manoj Kumar (57.57s) and Vikandan Jothi (1:01.94s). In the women’s 400m T20 final, Natalia Sainchina finished first in 1:00.52s.
