 One shot, two stabbed in Washington's Dupont Circle; location central to Pride events

A man was shot and two others were reportedly stabbed Saturday night near Dupont Circle in Northwest Washington, DC, a key site for this weekend’s WorldPride celebrations.The police said a fight broke out between a group of teens just after 7 pm at Dupont Circle Park, during which two teens were stabbed and taken to the hospital.

About an hour later, a man was shot in the foot near 19th Street, just south of Dupont Circle.

He was also hospitalised and is expected to recover.

DC police dispersed the park while investigating the incidents.The 19th Street entrance of the Dupont Circle Metro station has been closed as part of the ongoing investigation, according to transit officials.It remains unclear whether the stabbings are connected to the WorldPride celebrations.Dupont Circle Park had reopened earlier on Saturday, with fencing removed after initially being scheduled to remain closed through Sunday evening at the request of US park police.
