 CM Punk returns to replace Cody Rhodes, New Champions crowned, and more

The July 6 episode of Monday Night RAW aired from the AllState Arena in Chicago, Illinois. It was a night of unexpected twists and turns, and it began with Cody Rhodes being attacked by Gunther and taking him out of his title match.

Following that, some exciting title matches took place, one that saw a major moment, and the main event saw CM Punk returning to WWE to replace Rhodes and shock the world with a huge win.

What happened in the opening segment of Monday Night RAW in Chicago?

After Gunther attacked Cody Rhodes, he was taken by the medical staff. Following that, the show opened with Seth Rollins coming to the ring to talk about his upcoming SummerSlam match against Roman Reigns. He was interrupted by LA Knight, who dissed both former Shield members, but was attacked by Jimmy Uso.

The Street Profits vs. The Vision

The opening match was contested for the WWE World Tag Team Championships. The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) defended the titles against The Vision (Austin Theory and Bron Breakker). It was a compelling tag showdown. In the final moments, Logan Paul handed Breakker the brass knuckles, but he was unable to use them. This led Maxxine Dupri to arrive and nail Dawkins with a low-paul, allowing Theory to pin him and win the titles for his team.

It ended with Dupri kissing Theory and cementing their relationship.

Sol Ruca vs. Raquel Rodriguez

Sol Ruca defended her WWE Women's Intercontinental title against Raquel Rodriguez, who was accompanied by Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez. The duo ran constant interference, but Ruca managed to hold her own. She got some backup from IYO Sky, who took out Morgan and Perez. With Rodriguez distracted, Ruca found the opening and hit the Sol Snatcher to retain her title.

Chad Gable & Dragon Lee vs. Rusev & Ethan Page

This was a tag team match. Chad Gable and Dragon Lee squared off against Ethan Page and Rusev. The exciting tag showdown ended with Rusev catching Lee as he launched himself on him and made him submit to the Accolade.

CM Punk vs. Sami Zayn

After Cody Rhodes was declared not cleared for the match, the Chicago fans saw the return of their hometown hero, CM Punk, as his replacement. He made his way down to the ring to battle Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE title. The match was a blockbuster as the fans cheered for both individuals.
