The film gave me the priceless title, 'Mohanlal's brother'

Yet again, the magic of the iconic trio is back to mesmerise cinephiles. The all-time lingering pain in every Malayali's heart, 'Kireedam', the on-screen magic from the Sibi Malayil-Mohanlal-Lohithadas team, is back in theatres.

The heartwarming reunion of the cast after 37 years has marked the beginning of the re-release celebrations, and we caught up with none other than Yadhu Krishnan, who played Sethu Madhavan's stubborn younger brother, Rameshan, to take a walk down memory lane."No words can describe this happiness. One of my films is coming back to theatres after 37 years – pure bliss. 'Kireedam' is undoubtedly one of the textbooks for every movie enthusiast.

The soulful writing of Lohithadas still makes us feel the heaviness of the climax scene. I'm happy that the new generation gets to watch the film in theatres and experience the real Sibi Malayil-Mohanlal magic. I am excited to watch the film on the big screen with my family, especially my daughter.

But the biggest sorrow is that my Amma, with whom I went to watch the film back then, is no longer with me as I head to watch the re-release.

It is also painful that many of the actors in the film have left us too," he said.Talking about his character, Yadhu shared that Rameshan came to him purely by luck."I recently came to know that the film was initially planned to be shot in Calicut, and my role had been assigned to another actor. Later, the shoot was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram, and that's how the role reached me – pure luck. Though I didn't know anything about acting then, I enjoyed every bit of the character.

Rameshan's dialogues after that moustache scene are still loved by everyone. Also, the film gave me the priceless title of 'Mohanlal's brother', and I will always cherish it," he added. The actor also shared that, since he lives in Thiruvananthapuram, he gets to relive those moments every time he passes the iconic locations from the film."The bridge in Vellayani is now celebrated as 'Kireedam Paalam', and I get to shoot there every now and then. Though the house that served as Sethu Madhavan's home and the police station have now been replaced by large apartment buildings, every time I pass those places, memories come rushing back, and they always bring a smile to my face," Yadhu concluded.
