A press conference by MDMK chief Vaiko turned tense when he confronted a journalist over a question on his criticism of the DMK after the party's alliance exit.

A press conference by MDMK chief Vaiko turned into a heated confrontation after he lashed out at a journalist for a question on the DMK following his party’s exit from the alliance.
Accusing the reporter of asking with a “hidden intent”, Vaiko hit back, saying, “You’re a sellout,” before asking the journalist to leave the press meeting.
“You are planning to come here. Who has brought you here?” Vaiko said. “Your newspaper is being sold by the boss. You're a sellout."
Following the heated exchange, the journalist was asked to leave the press conference.
The confrontation comes just two days after Vaiko announced that the MDMK had decided to leave the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance and would support Chief Minister Vijay's TVK.
Vaiko’s announcement marked a major political shift for the MDMK, which had been part of the alliance for more than eight years.
The decision followed a high-level meeting of the MDMK general council, where the party discussed its future political strategy.
Vaiko said the party would support TVK in the upcoming bypolls for six seats in Tamil Nadu.
In this year's state Assembly elections, the MDMK won two seats, with both candidates contesting on the DMK’s ‘rising sun’ symbol.
