Popular singer Mika Singh recently shared a humorous story from his early days, revealing that the bodyguard who protects him today had once refused to work for him. The amusing anecdote came up when filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan visited his farmhouse in Delhi.

During their conversation, Mika introduced her to his longtime bodyguard Kartar and recounted the unexpected history behind their association.

Introducing Kartar and recalling their first meeting

While introducing Kartar to Farah Khan, Mika Singh fondly narrated how they first met nearly three decades ago. He explained that when Kartar bent down to touch Farah’s feet, he jokingly told her that Kartar was not a decent man at all. Mika then recalled that around 30 years ago, he had approached Kartar and asked him if he would consider becoming his bodyguard since he looked tall and well-built.However, Kartar had reportedly responded by saying that Mika should first focus on working because he himself was still struggling at the time. Surprised by the story, Farah Khan asked Kartar if he had actually said that. Kartar nodded in agreement, confirming the memory. Mika burst into laughter while remembering the moment and joked that unlike others who work hard to impress someone, he became successful just to eventually hire Kartar as his bodyguard.

Growing up in a family rooted in music

During the conversation, Mika Singh also spoke about the musical environment he grew up in. The singer revealed that his father was closely associated with devotional music and often performed kirtans at Gurudwaras. Because of this, music naturally became a central part of Mika’s childhood. His father and his elder brother, Daler Mehndi, spent years performing devotional songs, and Mika frequently accompanied them during those performances. The singer added that he eventually fulfilled a personal dream at his farmhouse in Delhi, which now houses a Gurudwara where prayers are held around the clock, along with a temple on the premises.

Rise to fame in music and Bollywood
