The Kengeri police have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a person on the road after being questioned for honking unnecessarily. The incident took place near Nagadevanahalli in Kengeri on Sunday.
The victim, Nanjundappa, 55, was allegedly assaulted by a man named Naveen. The incident occurred on February 22, and the entire incident was captured on CCTV camera.
According to the complaint, Nanjundappa was walking on the road near R.R. Layout in Nagadevanahalli on February 22, around 5.20 p.m. At that time, Naveen, who came from behind in a car, allegedly repeatedly honked at him to clear the way. Nanjundappa reportedly told Naveen, “There is enough space on the road, you can go”.
Enraged by this, Naveen allegedly got out of the car and verbally abused Nanjundappa. Naveen’s mother, who was present, tried to calm him down, but he did not relent. He continued arguing and then physically assaulted Nanjundappa. After the victim walked away, the accused allegedly chased him in a car, confronted him again, and assaulted him. A few residents eventually intervened and pacified the situation.
The victim was taken to a hospital.
