A 22-year-old man died after allegedly being hit and thrown off balance by the powerful air turbulence generated by a speeding superfast train while he had stepped off a stationary train near Bhanpur railway outer in Chhola area on Wednesday morning.Police said that the deceased, identified as Virendra Kushwaha, a resident of Jagdishpur and an employee of a private courier company, had returned from Satna after attending the wedding of a relative. He was travelling back to Bhopal with two cousins when the incident took place.According to Chhola police, the train they were travelling in had halted at the Bhanpur outer signal around 11 am due to signal clearance.
Virendra reportedly got down from the train during the halt. At the same time, a superfast train coming from Delhi side passed on the adjacent track at high speed. Family members alleged that the force of the train’s air turbulence threw him several feet away, causing him to collapse on the ground in severe pain.His relatives immediately rushed him to a hospital. Though doctors found no major external injuries, medical examination revealed severe internal injuries on the left side of his body including fractures, extending from the shoulder to the leg.
Despite treatment, his condition deteriorated and he succumbed to his injuries around 14 hours later.SI Ramprasad Bharti said a case has been registered and investigations are underway.Virendra was the only brother among four sisters. His death has left the family devastated. The family had returned from a wedding celebration only to be plunged into mourning within hours.
