Youth duped of Rs 2.25 lakh through fake website link

TNNMhow: A youth was duped of Rs 2.25 lakh after he received a link on his phone and was asked to deposit a traffic challan through it.Badgonda police station in-charge, Prakash Waskale, told TOI that the youth, Garvit Patidar, a resident of Laxmi Vihar Colony in Gawli Palasiya, fell prey to an online scam after a link of a fraudulent website named “M Parivahan.org” was sent on his mobile phone and he was asked to deposit traffic challan through it.

“He downloaded the app and it was installed on his device, two days back. Thereafter, he received three SMS alerts from his bank regarding withdrawal of money from his account totalling to Rs 2.25 lakh. He submitted a complaint to the police and after investigation, the complaint was registered on Saturday night,” Waskale said.A case under section 318 (4) of BNS was registered against unidentified person.
