Youth held on charge of sexually abusing anganwadi girl

The Elamakkara police on Monday arrested a 20-year-old man on charge of sexually abusing a three-and-a-half-year-old girl at an anganwadi in the city.

The youth was taken into custody from his friend’s house at Aluva, police sources said. He had been absconding since the case was registered on Saturday, the sources added. The case was registered following a complaint by the girl’s parents. The youth, a relative of an anganwadi staffer, used to frequent the pre-school facility, the sources said.

The youth has been charged under Sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
