Lucknow: Police and the district administration in Gonda district exhumed the body of an 18-year-old boy from his grave 12 days after his burial following allegations by his family that his death in a road accident was suspicious and could be a case of murder, officials said on Monday.The action was taken in the Mankapur police station area after the deceased’s father approached authorities alleging foul play in his son’s death and sought a fresh postmortem examination. Acting on the complaint and after receiving permission from the district administration, police exhumed the body in the presence of senior officials and sent it for autopsy. The entire process was videographed.The deceased, identified as Chandan, a resident of Bakharwa (Devarhana) village under Chhapia police station area, worked as a DJ operator.According to family members, Chandan was returning home in a pickup vehicle after performing at a programme in Lamti Ukrahwa village on the night of May 12-13 when a pickup vehicle allegedly collided with their vehicle near Amwa jungle in the Mankapur area, leaving him critically injured.He was initially taken to the community health centre in Mankapur and later referred to the district hospital and subsequently to Lucknow Medical College.
However, he died on the way during treatment, police said.The family had initially buried the body without conducting a postmortem examination. Later, the victim’s father, Agyaram, alleged that the death appeared suspicious and demanded a fresh probe.Following administrative approval, SDM Mankapur, Avneesh Tripathi and CO Mankapur Udit Narayan Paliwal supervised the exhumation process.Police have registered a case against an unidentified vehicle driver based on the father’s complaint. Station house officer Gaurav Singh Tomar said further legal action would be taken after the postmortem examination report is received.
