New Delhi: YouTube has officially made its YouTube Shorts, just like Instagram Reels. Recently, YouTube has announced a latest series of upgrades to its short-form video platform, YouTube Shorts. By focusing on improving the user interaction and by tailoring the content delivery, these changes are rolling out gradually to the Shorts player based on users’ feedback collected over the past five years since the feature’s debut. This upgrade aims to reduce the visual clutter, offering greater playback control, and refining the platform’s recommendation algorithms.
To provide a more immersive viewing experience, YouTube is unveiling a Clear Screen mode. When it is activated, this feature temporarily removes all of the on-screen overlays, including text descriptions and interaction icons.
This enables the viewers to watch the content without any UI elements obstructing the video. Viewers can now double the playback speed of Short by enabling quicker consumption of information or faster navigation via longer clips. Users can now silence audio by tapping the screen to pause the video and then selecting the dedicated mute icon. The platform is unveiling the Shorts timer feature, which includes an option to set the timer to zero, by offering users more precise control over their viewing sessions.
YouTube is modifying how users interact with the content and how these interactions influence the recommendation algorithm. The traditional dislike button is being retired within the Shorts player. Data suggested that the dislike was often too ambiguous, representing anything from a critique of technical quality to a simple lack of personal interest in the topic.
