VIJAYAWADA: Former chief minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy warned that YSRCP will vehemently oppose the privatization of medical colleges by intensifying the protests. He asked the contractors to keep away from bidding or get ready to face the consequences as YSRCP will surely take them back into the govt fold after coming into power.Speaking to media here on Wednesday, Jagan appealed all democratic forces and political parties in the state to join hands with YSRCP in protecting the govt medical colleges in the larger public interests. “We have conceived 17 govt medical colleges and launched five within three years of post-covid. Another two colleges were almost ready for launch by the time we demitted office. Remaining 10 colleges would have been operationalised by the current academic year had the NDA govt continued their plan,” said Jagan.
Ridiculing Naidu’s argument that many colleges were left in the middle, Jagan said that it took a decade to complete one medical college (AIIMS-Mangalagiri) while they completed seven colleges in three years.
“Naidu should feel ashamed as he could not get a single medical college in govt sector, which is crucial to manage the public healthcare needs, despite serving as CM for 14 years before 2019. He is ruining the govt medical colleges only out of jealousy,” said Jagan.
Former chief minister described the NDA govt’s celebrations of Super Six as a Super flop and likened it to a forcible revelry for a flop movie. “Naidu is known for lying without marking his eyelid. He is now brazenly organising celebrations without fulfilment of his poll promises. He squarely duped people of all sections,” said Jagan. He wanted to know whose pockets were filled with the Rs 2 lakh crore loans raised by the govt in the last 15 months.
He said that Naidu duped farmers by not granting Rs.20000 under Annadata Sukhibhava, women by not giving Rs.36000 under Adabidda Nidhi, and youth by not granting unemployment assistance of Rs.72000. He said that NDA has scrapped many schemes implemented by YSRCP despite promising to double the welfare.
“Still, Naidu is celebrating super-six event as he never bothered about keeping of promises,” said Jagan. He fumed at Naidu govt for failing to anticipate the urea requirement in advance and supply to the farmers.
He said that farmers were compelled to hit the streets for urea only after govt failed to supply the required quantities. He alleged that Naidu and his party leaders were behind in black-marketing of urea sent by the Centre leading to chaos in agriculture sector. He said that farmers have never faced such situation during YSRC’s regime. He explained that RBKs launched by them were deliberately killed and ecrop was ignored leading to crisis.
