NELLORE: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led coalition, alleging widespread irregularities and political interference in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Nellore district.Addressing a joint press conference in Nellore, former YSRCP minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy and MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy alleged that the TDP was misusing its administrative authority during the voter list revision exercise.Kakani Govardhan Reddy alleged that the ruling party was using its official 'My TDP' mobile application to collect sensitive voter information, including caste details and voting preferences, which he claimed should not be collected as part of the electoral roll revision. He further alleged that the data was being used for targeted political profiling to identify and remove pro-YSRCP and neutral voters from polling booths across Nellore district. The former minister also claimed that the TDP-led state government was carrying out the voter list revision without transparency, turning a statutory democratic exercise into a political tool.YSRCP MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy criticised the participation of the state Municipal Administration Minister and municipal commissioners in internal reviews related to the voter revision process.
He alleged that the electoral roll revision is a statutory exercise that must remain independent of elected political executives under Article 324 of the Constitution.Demanding immediate intervention by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and the Election Commission of India (ECI), Chandrasekhar Reddy urged that officials accused of bias be relieved of their election duties pending an independent inquiry. He warned that if the alleged arbitrary changes to the electoral rolls were not corrected, the YSRCP would challenge the entire revision process in court to protect the democratic rights of voters in Nellore.
