YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) State coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said that the party will launch a statewide movement to achieve the rights of Rayalaseema region.
Addressing the media after participating in the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project (RLIP) Task Force Committee round table meeting in Nellore on Monday, he said, “The government is making promises about new projects like Banakacharla while neglecting the RLIP, which needs to be completed. It serves as the lifeline for Rayalaseema, Nellore and Prakasam districts. We will intensify the agitation to ensure its completion. We appeal to all political parties, farmers’ unions, civil society groups, and intellectuals to support this struggle.”
“Alliance government has stalled the RLIP despite payment of over ₹900 crore in bills and 80% completion of works during the YSRCP regime. In today’s meeting, the RLIP State task force members have taken a decision to strengthen the movement at the constituency level and expand to the village level,” the YSRCP State coordinator alleged.
“The YSRCP leaders will tour all districts and hold review meetings to further strengthen the movement. Special advisory committees comprising retired engineers, lecturers, professors, and water resource experts will be constituted to provide technical and policy-related support to the movement,” he added.
Former Minister and convener of the RILP Task Force Committee Sake Sailajanath; former Minister and district party president Kakani Govardhan Reddy; MLA Akepati Amarnath Reddy; former MLAs Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, Gadikota Srikanth Reddy, S.V. Mohan Reddy, and Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy; along with other key leaders attended the meeting.
