YSRCP calls for resignation of TDP MP amid drug test controversy

YSRCP Bapatla district president and former Minister Merugu Nagarjuna on Monday (March 16, 2026) demanded that Telugu Desam Party MP Putta Mahesh Yadav immediately resign from the Lok Sabha following reports of his positive drug test.

Speaking at the YSR Congress Party central office in Tadepalli, Nagarjuna accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of protecting the MP instead of taking action. He alleged that issuing show-cause notices was a delaying tactic and demanded a full probe into the drug network. He stated that the government should prove its commitment against drug menace instead of shielding those involved.
