The re-polling conducted in the two polling stations for the Pulivendula ZPTC by-election was incident-free on Wednesday.

Re-polling had been ordered in view of the violent incidents witnessed on the polling day on Tuesday. It was conducted at polling station No. 14 arranged in the Mandal Parishat Model Primary School at E. Kothapalli and polling station No. 3 at Atchavelli amid tight security arrangements.

Polling for the ZPTC seat in Pulivendula, considered the bastion of the YSR family, was conducted for the first time in 30 years, which the ruling NDA dispensation described as “restoration of democracy.”

Meanwhile, tight security arrangements were made for the counting of votes scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday at Maulana Azad National Urdu University polytechnic, near RIMS hospital, in Kadapa.

Votes polled in the Pulivendula by-election would be counted in a single round on 10 tables, while the ones polled for the Ontimitta ZPTC seat would be counted in three rounds on 10 tables. Every table would have a supervisor and two counting assistants.

As many as 100 staff members, including 30 supervisors, 60 counting assistants and three assistant statistical officers, had been deputed for the purpose.
