Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19, 2025.

The District Sessions Court in Guwahati rejected the bail petitions of three accused in the Zubeen Garg murder case.

The court heard the bail petitions of three of the six prime accused — co-singer Amritprabha Mahanta and the late singer’s two personal security officers, Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya — on January 22 and had reserved the verdict for January 30.

In the meantime, Garima Garg, wife of Zubeen Garg, had filed a separate petition urging the court not to consider the bail pleas. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) also submitted a petition opposing the bail applications.

Demons should be punished, not granted bail: Garima Garg

Reacting to the court’s decision, Garima Garg said with tears in her eyes, “The honourable court’s decision is satisfactory. All the demons should be punished, not granted bail." Breaking down emotionally outside the courtroom, she added, “Such kinds of Ashura (demons) are extremely rare on this earth—only a few appear in a century. Because of Zubeen, I have been able to see their true faces."

Distress Petition Against Sidharth Sarma

“The court also heard the distress petition against Sidharth Sarma, the manager of Zubeen Garg, and has fixed 16 February as the next date of hearing," said Garima Garg.

It may be mentioned that the SIT has filed another case against Sidharth Sarma for his alleged involvement in the mismanagement and misappropriation of Zubeen Garg’s funds.

Allegations have also been raised that Sidharth Sarma acquired several assets in and around Guwahati through illegal earnings. Consequently, a distress petition was moved before the court, which has scheduled the next hearing for February 16.

Advocate Ziaur Rahman’s Briefing

Government Counsel Ziaur Rahman, while briefing the media on the court proceedings, stated, “The investigation has revealed financial transactions involving two PSOs. Despite having money in their accounts, they did not inform anyone. They also personally spent Zubeen Garg’s money, for which they are equally responsible. The main case will be heard again on the 13th."

He further added, “Three new applications have been filed in court. The accused’s counsel has sought the investigation report from Singapore. This application has no merit, and we will strongly oppose it."

Regarding the distress petition against Sidharth Sarma, he said, “By misappropriating Zubeen Garg’s money, Sidharth Sarma constructed a water factory. His business associate had filed an application to set up this factory. Two more applications will be heard on the 16th. The court will also hear matters related to the seizure of Sidharth Sarma’s business venture at Mirza and a luxury flat in the Ambari area of Guwahati."
