11 gamblers arrested in Varanasi with over Rs 4.81 lakhs seized during police raid

VARANASI: At least 11 gamblers were arrested during a raid by the special operation group-2 in Keshripur under the Rohaniya police station area on Wednesday late night. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) T Saravanan said that, acting on a tip-off, the SOG-2 team raided a campus in Keshripur where many individuals were found engaged in gambling.

The police seized cash worth Rs 4,81,340, 13 mobile phones, and four decks of playing cards.The DCP stated that 11 gamblers, including Shyambali, Raju Sonkar, Satendra Kumar, Anand Kumar Upadhyay, Santosh Kumar, Hariram, Ramdular Singh, Ravishankar, Raju Kumar, Kitabuddin, and Anurag Golu Tiwari, were arrested.The SOG-2, which was formed by the Commissioner of Police Mohit Agrawal to check unethical and illegal activities, busted many sex rackets operating in apartments and under the guise of spa centres, as well as gambling centres, in the past month.
