Luke Donald warns Ryder Cup bosses about Donald Trump delays
Luke Donald reminded reporters that Trump is expected to be on the first tee when the Ryder Cup begins on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Bethpage Black. He said, “We were told that he’s coming. We don’t know the details yet, and I think the tours are talking with the PGA of America to get more information.”The concern comes after Donald Trump caused disruption at the U.S. Open men’s final in New York on September 7. Security around Arthur Ashe Stadium forced hundreds of fans to wait in long lines.
The final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, which was supposed to start at 2 p.m. local time, began at 2:49 p.m. Many fans missed the opening games because of the extra checks.Luke Donald said the Ryder Cup crowd will be even bigger, with more than 50,000 people expected daily, so it is very important that organizers avoid a similar problem.
“It’s a big process to get a president to come to an event,” Donald explained. “The PGA of America’s job is to make sure it’s seamless.”
