Tennessee police on Friday found 14 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in a man’s house accused of threatening to kill local public officials and law enforcement personnel.Deputies and detectives had gone to arrest 54-year-old Kevin Wade O’Neal at his residence on outstanding warrants.
While taking him into custody, officers noticed a smoldering object in the bedroom—later confirmed to be an IED, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said, reported NBC News.A full search of the property, conducted with assistance from the bomb squad and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), uncovered 14 IEDs throughout the home. Investigators believe O’Neal intended to detonate the explosives as officers arrived.O’Neal has been charged with 11 counts of attempted first-degree murder, 14 counts related to prohibited weapons, and one count of possession of explosive components. The attempted murder charges relate to sheriff’s office personnel and two others present during the arrest.He is being held at the Polk County Jail. His bond has not yet been set, and it remains unclear whether he has obtained legal counsel
