15-year-old student dies after consuming pesticide in Mangaluru

MANGALURU: A 15-year-old student, who allegedly consumed pesticide at home on November 4, succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at District Wenlock HospitalAccording to the police, the student did not attend school on Nov 4, saying she had a headache.

While at home, she reportedly consumed pesticide that was kept in the house and soon became unwell.The complainant’s wife, who was away for daily wage work, rushed home upon learning of the incident and immediately took the girl a hospital in Puttur for treatment. From there, she was shifted by ambulance to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment. Despite receiving medical care, the girl passed away.Based on a complaint filed by the girl’s father, a case was registered at Uppinangady Police Station.
