2 firing incidents within 20 minutes create panic in Haryana's Yamunanagar; businessmen targeted, police launch manhunt

YAMUNANAGAR: Panic gripped Yamunanagar city late last night after two separate incidents of firing were reported within a span of 20 minutes, sparking fear among residents and prompting a swift police response.

The twin firing incidents occurred in the ITI area and Sarojini Colony Phase-1, targeting prominent businessmen. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The first incident occurred around 10 PM outside the residence-cum-office of Ravinder Pal Singh and Gurdeep Singh, owners of Shammi Industries (also known as Jamuna Engineering Company), near ITI. Two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fired 4 to 5 rounds at the office shutter, damaging the glass door and puncturing the shutter with bullets.

The family members, startled by the sound of gunshots, immediately alerted the police.Responding promptly, four Dial-112 emergency response vehicles, along with teams from Gandhi Nagar Police Station, Crime Investigation Agency (CIA)-1, and CIA-2, rushed to the spot. Yamunanagar Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Amarinder Singh personally inspected the site. A forensic team recovered bullet shells, and CCTV footage from the area has been secured for investigation.

The industrialists stated they had no enmity with anyone, adding to the mystery.

Barely 15 to 20 minutes later, a second firing incident occurred in Sarojini Colony Phase-1. Unknown miscreants opened fire outside the house of a textile trader named Ravi. At the time of the attack, the area was plunged into darkness due to a power outage, and the trader was having dinner inside. According to reports, Ravi had previously received threats and was already under police protection.ASP Amarinder Singh and police teams also reached the second site and initiated a thorough probe.Following these back-to-back incidents, Yamunanagar Police enforced a strict blockade across the district. Security has been tightened at every intersection, and vehicles and individuals are being thoroughly checked. Special focus is being given to the UP border, where additional surveillance has been deployed.Police are now trying to determine whether both attacks were carried out by the same gang or by different groups, and what the motive behind these shootings might be. Meanwhile, Dial-112 patrol units continue to remain stationed in the affected areas, and the investigation is actively ongoing.ASP Amarinder Singh assured the public that the situation is under control and that every effort is being made to nab the culprits swiftly.
