At least two people were killed and 14 others injured, including police personnel, in a bomb blast on Thursday in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police officials said.
The explosion, caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), took place near a police patrol vehicle close to a taxi stand in Wana tehsil of South Waziristan district, according to District Police Officer Tahir Shah. Following the blast and subsequent firing, security forces were deployed to the area, and the injured were moved to Wana Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Pakistan has witnessed a significant surge in terror attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.
