Jamshedpur: Two people were killed, and another person was hospitalised after sustaining injuries in a collision involving a car and a speeding truck in West Singhbhum due to heavy fog on Monday.The accident took place near Thalko village on the Chaibasa-Seraikela road when the truck, headed towards Seraikela, collided with the car coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the crash left the car mangled and its driver was killed on the spot. A passenger, who was seated on the co-driver's seat, died on the way to Seraikela sadar hospital. Another passenger of the car is hospitalised with multiple injuries.The deceased were identified as Gunjan Yadav (34) and Mukhtar Ansari (39). While Gunjan is a resident of Ulidih in Mango, Mukhtar was a resident of Kapali in Chandil. The truck driver fled the spot after the accident.The police reached the place of occurrence on receiving alert from the local villagers. Meghnath Mandal, the in-charge of Pandrasali police outpost, said that dense fog is the cause of the fatal accident. “The accident occurred at the curve. It seems that due to the heavy fog driver of the car could not clearly see the vehicle coming from opposite direction,” he said.
