Two officials killed and two others were injured in the accident
Two senior police officials of Andhra Pradesh lost their lives after the car in which they were travelling lost control, hit a divider and veered into the opposite lane where a speeding truck crushed into them. The accident took place near Kaithapuram village of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district early Saturday morning.
Two Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) rank officers lost their lives in the incident, while two others sustained serious injuries in the accident.
The deceased officers have been identified as DSP Chakradhar Rao and DSP Shantha Rao. According to reports, the police team—comprising the two DSPs, Additional SP KVSS Prasad, and driver Narsimha Raju—was travelling in a Scorpio vehicle from Vijayawada to Hyderabad on official duty.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle lost control after a truck ahead suddenly applied brakes. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the speeding car rammed into the road divider and veered into the opposite lane, where it was hit head-on by another truck coming from the Hyderabad side.
Chakradhar Rao and Shantha Rao died on the spot due to the impact. Additional SP KVSS Prasad and driver Narsimha Raju sustained serious injuries and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
