21 dengue cases confirmed in Mysuru district since January

Out of 577 suspected dengue cases reported in Mysuru district since January, 21 have tested positive, according to the Health Department.

A total of 492 samples were tested. In Mysuru city alone, 10 dengue cases were confirmed from 290 suspected cases, with 249 samples tested. Among the taluks, only T. Narsipur did not report any dengue cases. All other taluks have registered one or two cases each.

With the onset of the monsoon season, the Department of Health and Family Welfare conducted a dengue awareness campaign in Mysuru city on Friday, aiming to curb the spread of the disease.

Regarding chikungunya, nine positive cases have been reported in Mysuru rural areas since January. Though 15 suspected cases were identified in Nanjangud, none tested positive. T. Narsipur has recorded one confirmed chikungunya case.

As part of the awareness drive, health officials and ASHA workers visited several localities, educating residents on mosquito control measures and preventive steps to avoid mosquito breeding.
