The Melparamba police have launched an investigation into the death of a 21-year-old newlywed who was found dead in her in-laws’ house at Arammanganam, Uduma panchayat in Kasaragod, Kerala.
The deceased has been identified as K. Nandana, daughter of Ravi and Seena of Periye Ayampara.
Nandana, who married Ranjesh of Alingalathottil, Arammananganam, on April 26, was discovered dead in her bedroom on Monday, the police said.
Preliminary findings suggest suicide following sudden provocation. The police said there is no evidence so far to indicate harassment at her in-laws’ house, but a detailed inquiry has been initiated.
According to the police, Nandana sent a message to her mother stating she was going to die. Her mother immediately shared the message to Ranjesh, who was away at the time, and informed the family members. When they reached the room, it was locked from the inside. After breaking open the door, they found Nandana hanging, but she was already dead.
The body has been taken for a post-mortem examination.
