The Chittoor police on Friday (December 12, 2025) cracked an inter-state bike-lifting racket, operating across Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, and arrested three members of the gang and recovered 36 stolen two-wheelers worth nearly ₹25 lakh.
Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi said that the Gudipala police team executed the operation. The arrests followed a sudden rise in motorcycle thefts in Chittoor and surrounding areas. Acting on complaints, the Gudipala police registered a case, while Deputy SP T. Sainath formed special teams to trace the gang across both States.
Acting on reliable information, the police apprehended Kiran Kumar of Chittapara village near Chittoor (A1), Vairamuthu of Latteri in Tamil Nadu (A2), and Jayasurya of Katpadi (T.N.) (A3), while they were moving suspiciously near Gollamadugu on the Chittoor-Vellore road. Another accused, Jayaprakash of Pallur of Tamil Nadu, is absconding.
The SP said that the accused admitted to stealing bikes in Chittoor, Gudipala, Yadamari and Tamil Nadu’s Vellore and Katpadi areas. Police said A2 Vairamuthu alone has 29 previous cases in A.P. and Tamil Nadu, while Kiran faces eight cases and Jayasurya three.
The gang allegedly sold the stolen bikes at various places on the A.P.-T.N. border to fund personal luxuries. The trio was remanded at the Chittoor sub-jail.
