A host of facilities is to be put in place in one-and-a-half years under the ₹30.3-crore master plan at the Arulmigu Subramanyaswamy temple at Kumaravayalur near Tiruchi.
The plan was drafted by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department which administers the ancient temple also known as Vayalur Murugan temple. Under this plan, a Valli thirumana mandapam with a capacity to accommodate 500 persons and two community halls each with a capacity to accommodate 250 persons are to be constructed.
Construction of a tonsure block, provision of a spacious parking lot, toilets block, annadhana koodam, and construction of a one-lakh litre overhead water tank form part of the master plan.
The parking lot would be in a position to accommodate around 100 vehicles. All these works are to be carried out near the temple’s vicinity. The Thirukulam (temple tank) is to be given a facelift under this plan, said the temple authorities.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin unveiled the foundation for the master plan through video conference from Chennai on Wednesday. The authorities said the work under this plan would commence next month and was expected to be over in 18 months.
