The situation in Assam remains tense as officials warned of more floods, with all the seven major rivers in the region breaching danger levels.
In Assam's neighbouring state, Manipur, more than 19,000 people have been affected and over 3,300 houses damaged due to widespread flooding caused by incessant torrential rains over the last four days.
Several places in Manipur's capital, Imphal, and its surrounding areas have been submerged underwater after spells of heavy downpour sent the Imphal river in spate.
In Arunachal Pradesh, at least seven people from the same family, including two women and two children, were reportedly killed after their car was struck by a landslide on National Highway 13 in the East Kameng district.
4 LAKH PEOPLE AFFECTED IN ASSAM
As many as 4 lakh people have been affected in over 15 districts in Assam due to flooding, according to an Assam Disaster Body report. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked locals living along river banks to remain alert as he warned that the rains are bound to intensify in the coming days.
The India Meteorological Department's Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Guwahati has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in Assam, with moderate rainfall forecasted in most parts of the state.
Cachar is among the worst affected districts with more than one lakh people displaced, followed by Sribhumi where around 85,000 people have been affected by the deluge.

The worsening situation in Assam has prompted Union Home Minister Amit Shah to dial Chief Minister Sarma. As public transport, including road, railway and ferry services, took a hit in the wake of heavy rains, Home Minister Shah assured all possible assistance to the locals.
OVER 19,000 AFFECTED BY DEVASTATING FLOODS IN MANIPUR
According to official data, 3,365 houses have been damaged and 19,811 people displaced as swollen rivers flooded residential areas and triggered landslides across the state. Imphal East, particularly the assembly constituencies of Heingang, Wangkhei, and Khurai, along with Senapati district, are among the worst-hit regions.
In response, 31 relief camps have been set up -- mostly in Imphal East -- to accommodate those evacuated from inundated localities. The state has also witnessed 47 landslides over the past four days, compounding the crisis.
The capital city of Imphal and surrounding areas, including Khurai, Heingang, and Checkon, were submerged after the Imphal River overflowed, breaching embankments. Waterlogging was reported at key establishments, including the All India Radio Imphal complex and the state-run Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).
Floodwaters entered the female orthopaedic and surgery wards at JNIMS, prompting an emergency evacuation of patients on Sunday evening. Local volunteers, clubs, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel joined hands to relocate the affected patients to safer locations.
Given the severity of the situation, the Governor has announced the extension of summer vacations in schools located in Imphal East, Imphal West, and the Senapati sub-division until further notice.
The Indian Army and Assam Rifles have rescued approximately 800 civilians, a statement said, as coordinated relief and rehabilitation operations continue across affected districts.
Meanwhile, Lok Sabha MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam has urged the Governor to declare the situation a "state calamity" to facilitate stronger institutional responses. In a letter to Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Akoijam highlighted the need for formal recognition of the scale of the disaster.
Authorities remain on high alert as rain continues to lash parts of the state. Relief teams are working round-the-clock to provide food, shelter, and medical assistance to those impacted.
3 DEAD IN SIKKIM LANDSLIDES, THOUSANDS RESCUED
A landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall on Sunday, resulted in the death of three people with six security personnel missing. The Centre on Monday said that more than a thousand tourists have been rescued in Sikkim as incessant rains continued to batter the state.
Meanwhile, the first batch, comprising 18 tourist vehicles from Lachung, has successfully reached in Phidang in Lower Dzongu.
District Collector Anant Jain led the convoy to ensure that the tourists were safely transported back.
The evacuation of tourists from Lachung began this morning with coordinated effort from the local administration and police, Army, BRO, ITBP, Forest Department, Lachung Dzumsa, TAAS, SHRA, Drivers’ Associations, other tourism stakeholders and local public.
As per the latest update, a tourist convoy comprising 284 vehicles, 16 bikes with 1678 tourists have crossed Theng Check Post towards Phidang.
Jain lauded the efforts of everyone involved in the evacuation. He informed that all the tourists from Lachung will be transported back safely today from the Lachung - Chungthang - Siphgyer - Phidang route and onwards to Gangtok.
He further said that efforts to restore road connectivity to Lachen are ongoing. Once the road is ready, tourists stranded in Lachen will also be evacuated.
