NEW DELHI: Teenage batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi marked his India A call-up in style, smashing a blistering 93 off just 67 balls in Bihar’s Ranji Trophy clash against Meghalaya on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old’s knock, studded with nine fours and four sixes, showcased his fluent strokeplay before he fell just seven runs short of a well-deserved century.

Suryavanshi was eventually dismissed for 93 by Meghalaya spinner Bijon Dey. Earlier, Meghalaya had posted a strong 408/7 declared in their first innings, powered by Ajay Duha’s 129 and Swastic’s 94.Apart from Suryavanshi, IPL talent Priyansh Arya has also been included in the Jitesh Sharma-led India A squad for the upcoming Rising Stars Asia Cup, set to be held in Doha later this month.India A have been drawn in Group B alongside Oman, UAE, and Pakistan A, while Group A features Bangladesh A, Hong Kong, Afghanistan A, and Sri Lanka A. The tournament will run from November 14 to 23, with India A opening their campaign against UAE on November 14, followed by a high-voltage clash against Pakistan A on November 16.Suryavanshi will once again be the player to watch, having already created history earlier this year by becoming the youngest centurion in men’s T20 cricket with his 101-run knock for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in the IPL.
