4 Terrorists Killed, 13 Civilians Hurt During Counter-Terror Operation In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

A law enforcement officer died and 14 others were injured during a counter-terror operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.

A law enforcement officer lost his life, and 14 others, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), were injured during a counter-terror operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district, officials said on Friday.

The joint operation by police and security personnel took place on Thursday in the Mamandkhel area after intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants. The exchange of heavy gunfire resulted in the death of one security official, injuries to 13 civilians and a DSP, and the killing of four terrorists, news agency PTI reported.

The injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital, while security forces began an extensive search operation in and around the area. Authorities have stepped up anti-terror operations across several districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following a recent surge in attacks targeting police officials.

In a separate incident in Tank district, a police constable was kidnapped and later shot dead by unidentified militants while returning home after duty. The body was moved to District Headquarters Hospital by Rescue 1122, and police, with the support of security agencies, have launched a manhunt. Officials confirmed that an FIR has been registered, and efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits.

Meanwhile, in Dera Ismail Khan’s Paharpur area, police thwarted a kidnapping attempt, rescuing 14 labourers after an intense gun battle with the abductors. Acting on a tip-off, officers surrounded the area and successfully freed the hostages.

District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmad Shahbazada commended the quick action of the force, saying the police remain vigilant to protect the lives and property of citizens.
